spraying epoxy primer

i dont need to hide behind a screen and slag u off. if i have anything to say il say it to your face. i didnt say that u said acid etch was no good . i said acid etch is a good quality product and will be for years to come. epoxy is the way forward but a good coating of 2k on top of it is as good as any . as for your reply post to bobbo it was childish and not verry constructive. there we have it enough said

Let's get this thread back on track. How do garages without spray booths deal with high humidity? I'm guessing any garage without a spray booth isn't that bothered?

Right, now, so getting back to the basic thread in general... Epoxy Primer..

So what do you use over the top of Epoxy Primer then?

Does normal 2k go over the top of it then, or does it have to be something more compatable with the epoxy?

When I did my Escort 20 years ago I used acid etch on the underside and round the alloy arches and for the rest I just used normal 2K primer filler. Then My Uncle had it at his place an it had more 2k primer then 2k top coat.

I always thought that any 2k primer was not porous anyway? Or Is that not necessarilly correct then?

I think epoxy is the only primer thats not porous, thats why its so good.

Finally got round to ordering the primer today, Had a look on paints 4u but on there website they only had 5ltr29107, and no thinners so ive bitten the bullet and ordered it from Metalflake, after i ordered it online i phoned and emailed them to say i wanted a grey tint, so ill wait and see what turns up !!!

well It turned up in mahooosive box, and the tint has been added ,
i got ;- 3.4ltr L29107 epoxy primer
2 ltr L29370 hardener
5 ltr L00516 thinners

inc carriage and vat 68.40. .

Ive ordered from ebay a hygrometer to see the air humidity so i can work out the temp i will need to have the room and the bits im spraying.

its not the sort of stuff you want to breathe in often, check with the maker for a tech sheet that will list whats in it and what breathing gear is req

Yep isocyanates, certified spray booth and air fed breathing equipment required! Not the sort of stuff you want to be spraying in your shed!
