Stainless tig welding wire diameter

Realise you're one majorly precise dude, but jewellery makers do the following: 1. Clamp one end in a vice and pull with a draw plate (or by hand if doable). 2. Place between two heavy plates and roll the top plate back and forth. 3. Something like this

Probably not as accurate as you require but perhaps some ideas.

I have a job that requires some 3mm stainless rod as a starting point,(425mm long) . Does anybody know , and able to confirm , preferably with a decent vernier gauge or micrometer that tig welding wire is available in 3mm?

1/8” doesn’t help me as centreless grinding it down to 3mm doesn’t make financial sense.

you are right it should be 3.2mm, I have tried it a lot but thought it was 3mm wire.

Some tig fillers come in metric sizes (including 3mm), Magnesium and titanium certainly do.
I've never seen a 3mm stainless though.

I bought 20 half meter lengths to see how straight it would be.FairPlay to the company that supplied it. Looks like they taped 4 lengths to a long piece of wood and then cut through the lot. The bend is random, not at the ends ,so not from cutting it. 4 Out of those 20 would be straight enough. So I guess it’s time to make a straightener.
