Are you hoping to reuse the pistons? Sounds doubtful to me. You could probably bore the liners in place and go oversize on pistons?
Re the starting issues - valves, seats and compression ratio are just as important as timing. If the exhaust have recessed you'll need to put some seats in.

Well finally got the last 2 pistons to move, one complete with the liner and the other has moved leaving the liner in place.
Both have been left to soak overnight with more release oil.
As I suspected No 4 big end has picked up but now the crankshaft is able to spin freely I am hoping the mains are OK.
I will post some photos once everything is finally apart.

Yeah I am just to bloody obstinate to let it beat me, even if I cannot get new liners and pistons.
