How do you join the nylon to the existing steel section?

This is how the fuel system is plumbed on the Reliant range. Rubber from the tank to nylon, which is just pushed together and clamped, then nylon back to rubber the other end. It does seem far more reliable than you might imagine and doesn't leak even at injection pump pressure.

People will say that biofuel breaks anything it touches.

I would simply comment that one small section of the pipework on my biodiesel reactor is copper. It's been there for about 15 years.

My reactor is mainly stainless and black iron, but it's pretty common for people to use copper water cylinders also.

Personally, however, I would (and do) just use nylon, with inserts, as someone advised above. Clear nylon even has the advantage of being able to see any air ingress.

I used copper pipes on my reactor. Whilst they don’t leak they are Green and slimy. Bio diesel does corrode them just really slow I guess.

Not to my knowledge. My last hot rod was plumbed with copper, passed MoT a year ago. Kit car suppliers still sell it.

Bet you will find that is Kunifer people call it copper but it is not, some countries around the world copper brake lines are outlawed.

No, it's copper, I bought it and installed it. Kunifer is harder, and a different colour.

I'm sure some of them use aluminium tube and compression fittings

A touch/squeeze with op1 would be good enough, that or solder an olive onto the pipe.

I done miles of brake pipes in my 40 years in the motor repair trade. I hate Kunifer - copper is easier to form.

They have to be steel brake lines, apparently. I've tried using it, it's a real ball ache to flare properly without splitting.

While the Ethanol or absorbed water might very slowly corrode copper or cupronickel, one benefit might be the copper might kill diesel bug, as it is anti bacterial to some bugs, just a hypothesis.

Maybe I'm a masochist, but I actually prefer Kunifer - It is harder to form but it seems to end up a lot straighter and looking a lot neater. Mind you I'm not having to do it for a living.

Trouble is a lot of people don't clip it properly, and it is free to vibrate about.
Also the yanks are terrible for car maintenance, so I suppose it is not all that surprising it gets such a bad rep over there.

Another common issue I find is with using the standard steel nuts and copper pipe - they always end up corroding and when you come to undo them it just twists the copper up. I've switched to using brass or stainless fittings.

Yeah you can use copper and it will pass an MOT.

What will not pass is the new type "olive" joints coming from China. I had to redo nearly a whole car last week - previous repairer (think DIY) had put them everywhere (in sight). Shame really - as the rest of the work he had done looked good.

I got a bit of OCD about "supported brake pipes" - I like to see them with a short length of fuel hose round them before being cable tied home!
