Storing an alloy cylinder head?

Ive got a freshly machined alloy cylinder head (landrover 300tdi) that i dont want to use quickly.

I want to store it in a way that they face does not corrode. In the garage...

I have a "really useful storage box" -

Im thinking of laying the head, face down, in the bottom of the box, on a bit of tissue, soaked in "somthing" - i guess fresh engine oil?

Does that sound as good a plan as any?

I'd not put cling film around it personally unless you can guarantee it's going to be bone dry. You may get condensation forming inside the cling film as the temperature changes.

Personally I'd just spray with oil, chuck it in a sealed box if so inclined (maybe leave both in the house to dry first). OTT but could chuck some desiccant bags in the box too.

I've not noticed anything happening to various car parts I've got stored in (dry) barns that are covered in oil, just leave them breathe I find like old properties. If I box them up invariably a leak will form just above them and I won't notice it

Stopping the jackdaws building nests on them is more of an issue!

What other oils would be applicable? I guess im probably limited to -

If im wrapping it in film, should i put a bit of oily kitchen roll between the cling and the machined face?

Its ok, ive got some fresh engine oil too! : ) I mean, im cheap, but im not quite that cheap...

Space in there is too valuable for drying hardwood blanks and accelerating resin cures.

Just oil and a cardboard box has worked for me plenty of times!

wouldn't use cardboard or wood it absorbs moisture .plaggy tub oiled and clingfilm wont sweat

Keep it indoors in a cardboard box under a bed, back of a wardrobe. Put it there when her (or him) indoors is not looking, and it will probably not be noticed !

my last house i had my norton in the kitchen it was covered up in the corner wifey happened to notice it and got the marching notice a month later when id finished putting my garage up

yep built my 2.1 ltr pinto ford engine in dining room as well before it got furnished as well. white sheets on the floor no dust while it was rebuilt

I used to rebuild Ford (mostly) car engines and Honda motorcycle engines, on the kitchen table, at night. Generally cleared away (and often already fitted in car/machine) by the time Mum came down in the morning.
