straightening a steel wheel

before i bust out the biggest sledge hammer any other ideas?
i have tried the smaller hammers with the wheel on the vechile and I have tried the hi lift jack also
none of these ideas worked
I thought the biggest sledge with the rim layed on the floor might work

I think you need to take the tyre off, then you might bend it back with some large stilsons, if not as Brad says heat needed.

i got a length of square bar and rounded the edge off to the same as wheel rim curve and whacked it back with a big hammer

Fire and violence. Plenty of both.

Heat it well
Work it to shape with a reaction piece And hammer or better a hammer and anvil. Helps if you’ve a selection of hammers.

Working it gradually will be key I think.

I wouldn’t be whumping it about with a. Sledge while the tyre is still on.

Quite right, I regularly have to knock the fiesta wheels back into shape that way, get it close with the sledge then follow up with the lump hammer and ball peen to get it spot on.

Don’t bother with heat or a big hammer, try using an adjustable spanner to ease the rim back into shape. Obviously the tyre needs to come off and the jobs best done with the wheel clamped to a tyre machine .that rim would take 2 or 3 minutes to straighten

kidding they used to be 45-50 per rim now they are double, these are 16" rims on a -35 offset 8J
