bench grinder or a angle grinder..... What am i missing? seems like a tool for the sake of it to me.

I don't own a cordless grinder, But I do have a cordless drill. Most tools all have their benefits

I just run a nut on a bolt I want cutting down. shorten with a hacksaw or slitting disk run the nut off and your good to go. damaged threads I have a thread file

I was thinking about these chamfer tools yesterday whilst shortening 3 cap head set screws on the linisher, think I will stick to the linisher and make a couple of depth stops for both operations.

I am forever having to doctor the ends of bolts when reassembling machines/kit my lads have dismantled, the hammer happy sods mushroomed the thread on top of a steering column the other day when changing an indicator switch. One of these gadgets would have sorted it in seconds.

I was gonna make one of these because it saves me messing around mounting inserts in the lathe and turning them around, etc, when they just need a quick 0.5-1mm chamfer banging on. At £15 that's perfect, thanks OP.

I have 2x bench grinder, 4x angle grinder, mini air grinder and a lathe...there's still times I wished I had one of those.

Most recently, snapped stud on a rear shocker mount on Mazda 3, no room for a grinder or a proper file, not even the dinky 90° die grinder would fit. That tool would have done the job in seconds.

Working in or above a finished office there is no way I could use an angle grinder or linisher, it would be a lot faster than using a file to finish the end of cut down studding.

I’d like to see a bench grinder/linisher/lathe repair a damaged stud that’s attached to a vehicle as they usually are...

We use one quite often at work.
We get 4m lengths of threaded bar and I cut it to whatever we need then use one of them to tidy the cut end(s)

Nicely made chunky little thing, stuffed it onto a 12mm and 16mm bolt and it never even marked the cutters.

well i may have to get one i have the cheap ones never used them
i normally use the grinder after i cut the stud
