Finally got round to making OH a chopping board from this splendid slice of beech that's been languishing in the mancave since last month:



Sawn in 2 and attacked with the belt sander:



Lots of elbow grease later, in its new home, subject to being treated with food grade oil:



And the next project will be a clock in the kitchen using this slice of oak for a mount:

Made a Burke bar

Actually repaired one
I made a thread last year though
Essentially I've refurbished a Burke/pry bar found in the thrash
It was very rusty , with the flat edge broken (missing a chunk) , and it's been also shortened at some point .
So I've cleaned it up prior to rebuild the missing edge using E7018 and copper backing to support the new metal until I've built up enough to support the welding beads
Then I've welded a point chiesel (CrV steel) to the "handle" to extend the length of the tool so more lever force , and also to have an alignment tool .
I had to bevel both parts ,then first beads using 312L (might be not the way I did I can't remember right now)
Fill and cap using 7018 ,I think to remember that I've used about 20 rods to make this joint between chiesel and pry bar
Than I've ground flush the parts and sharpened the flat edge
Painted it in Blue ,and I'm thinking to remove all the paint and use some cold blue

I don't normally notice until I see blood on the Workpiece.
Never bothered me. Patch up if required and crack on.
Vomit and crap bother me more.

I've never been bothered by blood but maybe I've just never had a bad enough cut. Other people's sick though!

It's not something you can decide , it's something that your body decides ...
I got several bad moment using power tools , always being cold like ice , several grinders flights , circular saws kickbacks, drill twisting wrists , caught on fire to many times for my relatively short work life .
Keep calm in those situations makes the difference between something to tell to the pub friends or a bad experience.
But blood is too much for me ,I can't even see someone doing exams

Blood doesn't bother me, less so if it's mine. When the wife was giving birth (she went for a c section) I called it the 'slice and dice' the nurses didn't want me to stand at the buisness end of things. They said I would faint, I asked from what? They told me from the sight of blood. I replied I have killed and gutted so many tuna (from my fishing days) that a little bit of blood wouldn't affect me. They didn't believe me, this was going to be my one and only viewing of this happening and I was not going to miss this for anything.
This 'slice and dice' was a eye opener, the doctor has obviously done this many times before. Just a little slice here, pull apart there, reach in and pull a treasure (maggot as I call them) out. The doc had to go in twice as there were two of them. The second was harder to catch as there was so much room there now. He looked at me and said 'I got them both you still look like we are missing something'. I replied I'm waiting for the instructions and the warranty paperwork. He had over time with the visits with the wife started to warm to me, his reply ' I've been doing this for some time now and delivered a few, but haven't found any 'warranty or instructions paperwork yet, your on your own with that'. Middle of next month they will be 8

Been a first aider for over 40 yrs. Allways, allways, when someone comes to me with the slightest cut I sit them down, before they fall down. It happens when they see it seeping out of them..

I just look at it to see if it is deep if it isn’t I’ll slap a cigarette paper on it it dries quick and acts like a second skin!

its genuinely something that's never affected me in the slightest: probably from familiarity.

I'm the same, no fear of blood mine or otherwise. if I fainted every time i cut / or injured myself, I'd have spent half my youth out cold.... wee bit of bog roll & a bit of sparky tape fixes everything, as soon as it stops bleeding, tape off let it dry out / breathe, sorted, works every time.

same with needles, working abroad, you become a pin coushion for vaccinations blood tests etc, so by repetition you became immune to them..

As some of you know I was pretty badly injured earlier this year, just one more time in quite a catalogue over the years. I have lost about 15% of the functionality of my right hand. I consider myself lucky, for lots of reasons and it is pretty amazing I still have all my limbs, let alone all my digits.
I quite simply don't have time to become nauseous over a cut, i'm with MCKDAVID on this one, you quite simply cannot survive a serious injury, or indeed any injury if you are falling about all over the place and toppling into the ocean or the nearest bit of machinery. If you are feeling bad, close your eyes, let it wash over you whilst hanging on to something and when the fog clears, carry on. I am also with him about this cover it up until the bleeding stops then let it breathe bit. I am firmly of the opinion that if you seal everything up and leave it to fester, it will.

As with Henry above, once the surgeon or doctor warms to you and you establish a relationship you can make things work. They (surgeon and physio) can't believe how fast and how well I have healed. At the end of the day, I know my body better than they do, I have taken a great interest in it over the years and a mixture of practicality and common sense goes a long way. Also, don't believe everything you are told and don't believe everything you read (on the Internet) either. I sacked my first consultant (you can do this) as he suggested "I can accept this level of deformity" fine if it was his hand but it's mine. His replacement is a very talented individual for whom I have a great deal of time.

Today I finished my worktable for the milling machine. Well, almost finished, I had to cobble some bits together, as both the packet of brackets, and the box of screws I planned to use, mysteriously disappeared until I finished for the day, then they turned up.

Used the hydraulic bike stand to move the mill, and it worked perfectly. I recommend it for folks with sheds of the ‘smaller’ size. I ‘walked’ the mill off the small machine stand and onto the bike stand, jacked it up to the bench height, and easily ‘walked’ it onto its new home.

Should have bought one years ago.

Got my medium finger between pry bar and concrete , little scratches but a lot of blood ,had the time to see that was only a little scratch but after few seconds I felt no good at all watched my finger and was covered in blood .

Some clamps for my brother's model boat building.
You screw the small thread into the hull and use the bolt to hold down a plank.
Took hours to make.
Bridgeport very good at power tapping.
Those screws are 2mm. Had to cut the heads off with a junior hacksaw!
