Aye, Dad was a capstan setter on permanent nights back then - perspex of various alternating colours, but the shaft was c. 3/8" beautifully turned and polished [that didn't last, of course ] steel - nothing but the best for them!

That growth retardant stuff is expensive iirc - we couldn't afford when I was g/keeping anyway.
I think theres only really one product cleared for use on grass though, that'll mean they can charge accordingly.

Before anyone says it, yes I know it's frowned upon to paint wooden ladders but it's lashed to the wall vertically in the garage for me to get into the garage roof space, not lashed to a 200 footer and it never did Mr. Dibnah any harm painting his ladders

I lost use of a hand years ago after a small surgery and it was a real pain, was my left and I'm right handed so not even as bad as you've got it. Does make you think a little bit though.So I still have both eyes so can eat using the left hand
