Woke up this morning to a birds nest
Looks like the nozzle came loose or wasn't tight in the first place.. I had recently fitted a direct extruder bracket and things were working well
Think maybe the short piece of ptfe was a fraction too short
Manage to clean up the hot end.. Will want a tap m6 by 1? ? To clean the threads
It's out of action till I get a new silicon heat shield as it tore comming off

M6 x 1 is standard metric coarse. You can improvise a tap by grinding two or three grooves into a bolt with a dremel and chamfering the end a little to give it a lead. For cleaning out plastic, it should work OK.

One of the reasons I haven't set up my Creality 10 s5 yet,the thought of the thing going up in smoke while unattended scares the life out of me. When I do get around to using it it will be set up in a flame proof cabinet with smoke detectors and an alarm.

@Anguz - the silicon boot is not essential. My Prusa didn’t have one and works fine whereas the Caribou did have one and works fine.

smoke detector is gonna be done as well now...though tbh it didnt smell in here
its in a sort of enclosure... all the sides, but no top, just to keep the draught of a door opening off

how tight are the heater elements normally ???
loosened the screw and heated it up...it dont want to move, and i dont want to mess it up more than it is
obviously if it does move i will have to kill the heat instantly before it goes in the thermal run away

I have decided to run a cctv camera to the printer cupboard. This way can watch the printer at all times if needed.
I only ever print when at home, not worth the risk leaving it unattended.

That is what I have done. Cheap wi-fi camera with pan and tilt, it lives in the enclosure.

My router is in a fireboard and Rockwall enclosure. Would do the same for a. 3d printer too

I just had to do this. I put the heater wires onto a 20v battery and just kept trying it until it pushed out by hand with a pin punch. Same for removing the stuck-in nozzle and heat break.

mine runs an old android phone... i can turn off the power by remotly turning the torch on the phone on
i use an ap called alfred
have wired a light dependant resistor to sense the light and drop out a relay

I have an Alexa switch to do that remotely.

rekon i have bust the thermocouple wire on mine... just came up with thermal runaway, then heater killed though didnt appear to be....
think i leave it alone till after the holidays.....

think its not bust.... think the missing heat shield wasnt letting the pid loop achieve temp fast enough...
