I've got a Subaru EJ20 block that I keep stubbing my toes on in my garage. Might stick a glass top on that and some castors to make a low side table. It's got a deep score in one of the bores so not worth reusing unless someone's really desperate for it.

This thread prompted me to run a google image search, and i came across this -

I assume the sockets are all tack welded together on a flat surface, and then the whole job flipped. I cant see any other way that they would all be flat on the upper surface otherwise?

...although it does look (hard to tell in the photo) as if there may be some glass also, but im realy not sure?

I like that. Not sure I could be bothered spending the time to make one though.

I like it. I don't suppose it's hard to do, the problem I would have would be finding enough sockets and bars to sacrifice.

Made some 'stilts' to go from the glass top down to a suitable fixing point on the block:

Next job was a nice wood base for it.. i approached a couple of cabinet makers but during a late night ebay session i scored this for £56:

Haha... Cheers Cris... apparently i have a 'rattlebox project' too... but even i've forgotten about that...

A few things are changing with work over the next few months, in as much as i'm gonna cut back on the days i work.. 7 days a week for over a year is taking its toll, so fingers crossed i can get things moving a bit quicker

Fingers crossed the 4 stilts on the glass top can be made to tie onto these, but i wont drill/tap anything until the glass is offered up in place..
