That's a steering wheel and it looks like he's driving the lathe through a car gearbox.

i have enough tackle to get it on my trailer i reckon as long as i can get trailer close e.g. not across the garden first

Well equipped lathe and collection of bits, surprised they have not been split. I`m not terribly near but if you got realy desperate I might be able to get to Carlise to help remove and load.
Yes, Love the Gearbox, I sold my twin bed Drummond, I too had a 4 speed Gearbox and a lever operated clutch. so with the back gear 8 Fwd, 2 Rev.

the problems have is 1 being young i have a Mickey mouse licence so limited to toys without taking extra licence, 2 i have nowhere to park it (but could hide it at a mates) and 3 the size of toy purchase would increase

Yeah, we are quite lucky in having the extras on our licence, just incase we might ever want/need it.

Women just don't tend see the possible potential though, do they.

Aye, that's what i thought too. All too oft they tend to be split, making the purchase of the lathe merely the starting point rather than it being capable of working from the start, if someone doesn't have any current tooling.
