and he tigs coke cans like this AND his best bit is 2 razor blades tiged togeather,,,

Razor blades are easier IMO.

I tried can's with no sucess, but I suppose I should have took my 3.2mm tungsten out. Also need to get some thinner filler rods as 1.6mm won't really cut it!

Looks like the guy's used some thick filler though.

I read somewhere its easier with the cans full (but open) claiming its easier. Like the balloon filled with water over the candle trick. Can't see it working though.

Have it on very good auth from the chap in the shop that it WAS TIG. He's a customer, but in a commercial sense. He works for a welding company on the estate. They do some architectural stuff that has to be neat.

I would be happy if I COULD get blu-tac that neat. I'd be on Blue Peter.

Spectrum is a welding supplier like 3 Shires in Clay Cross. There's a place in the Incomol buildings as you come into CX from Chesterfield that does fabrication work.

I use Leengate at the back of the Powersports center next to the Total garage. Roger is a very helpful chap. They are a BOC agent. The fabricator is over the back down towards the old Clay Cross works. Really handy for me in Wingerworth, just around the corner. He's not always in as he drops gear off for people so I bell him first. He'll get pretty much anything that you want. I have an account so get trade prices.

ay roger is a good un, used to now him quite well. very helpful. used to help out at compass on the other end of the units.the motorbike training school not the oap buggies.

Hey, I welded those cans together. Never seen this thread before. I have a place in Chesterfield called Amber Racing. We run a race and rally preparation and restoration business.
Thanks for liking the welding, it took me a few to get the settings right. It is TIG and not alli solder. Done with a Parweld AC/DC 200 on 2 amps, white 1.6 tip ground to a point, 5356 1.6 rod from what i can remember. I did another pair that are sat on my desk. If you go into Photo Albums and look for Tims welding jobs you can some other bits ive done

Not read the whole thread so it may have been mentioned already
I first came across welding cans (and razor blades) on welding tips and tricks. Had a go myself and it's pretty hard!!

when i was doing my welding at college years ago one of the tests our lecturer frank used to put us through was welding coke cans together, mine were never quite that neat but none the less we all managed it in the end otherwise we failed the course.
