Interesting comment from 500e and bright spark.
A friend of mine has a lot of classic bikes, one of his mates had a wife who was always moaning about his classic Norton collection, when he bought a bike he told her Oh its just a scrapper for £40 for me to tinker with.
Sadly he died and she just rang the scrap man who took the lot, I believe it was worth more than his house! So its important that family know what your collectables are worth.
The cabinets are an ideal apprentice restoration project

In all honesty, any person who would ring a scrapper to get shut of their departed's gear, I've no sympathy for. Better the scrapman to make money, IMHO, than someone who has such little regard for their departed's stuff.

Have to agree 90% off my dad's stuff I kept put in boxes and came back to it a few years later once the dust had settled and decided what I wanted to keep sell etc

Might just mean that they fight over who gets what - families, eh?

Astonishing how often this happens, it only takes one wrong word when emotions are running high - I've seen it so many times. Might be better if he put their names on the items instead of (perceived) value.

Yep it's amazing what my sisters was fighting over when my dad died that's why I'm making sure there's nothing to leave once I get older then they can't fight over it lol
And a will is worthless unless everyone who's on it has a copy as we found out when my nan died and her son and his family kept everything My side got nothing to remember our nan with even tho we was named in the will as she told us herself But the law states he doesn't have to show us what we was left only way we could do anything was to take to court that he wasn't doing as the will states
