You can't run a welder from a motor VFD if that's what you're thinking. 230v inverter single phase will only give you 230v three phase.Hi all,
Probs been asked before but I couldn't find a solid answer.
What type of inverter/transformer do I need to run a three phase plasma or welder from a single phase supply, I get a good 240v and have 32a easy in the workshop, just don't want to pay to get three phase supply in for various reasons.
Noise isn't a problem as its on a farm, so rotary are ok, but I'm not sure what's what really.
Cheers Dan
Yeah you're right there, i'm thinking about the arc itself being resistiveCopper cored welder is defo an inductive load, I'm really not sure what an inverter welder is classed as?
As I understand it, an inverter welder is a bit like an SMPS, ie a non-linear load that causes distortion of the sine wave with harmonics, rather than displacement (leading/lagging).Copper cored welder is defo an inductive load, I'm really not sure what an inverter welder is classed as?
