Morning all.
As I have nothing to do today I am going to finally set up the tig side of my new machine that I have had for a couple of months..used tig a handful of times but need to get dialled right in with it.if I don't post any pics that means I have messed it right up.

Yes..just started. .the hardest thing I find is trying not to weave or push the tungsten in.so used to mig and stick..but I will percivere. And balling up the tungsten is a nightmare ☺..

It's was me pushing the tungsten to far and it getting stuck..arc length to short..my machine is dc..

Tell me about it..I done some tungsten grinding today..will post some pics when I get a steady flow going..just watching how the puddle forms and going from there.

OK. .have had a couple of hours doing tacks and just maintaining the correct angle and arc length..haven't added add ny filler rod as can't seam to get the cordination right as yet..

Definitely got a real bad habit of weaving. .

Ok there is good news and bad news
Good news you can tig weld and do it consistently.
Bad news the weave type tig weld is spoiling things for you I'd jack that in straight away.
It's a weak weld it's covered in undercut it's not attractive it's been loaded with heat input it's just bad. ......
Sit on the naughty step and sort that out.
Come back with a lovely looking single pass stringer and start again.

Thanks guys..I will indeed be stricked with my self and nail the weave on the head...will get my self a stool.as standing over the bench don't help as I can't relax properly. .for you guys that tig for a living or doing on a daily basis I take my hat of to you..as a beautiful art it is it takes a long time to master..thanks again guys...

Yeah they're pretty amazing mate. I've been learning for a year and mine are not as neat as yours. The stuff that's involved is like an onion with ever deepening rings. Hell I even like reading about tungsten dopants now

EsCHEn you've seen this already. I haven't any new recent pics.
Spencer. That whirlybird weavey thing stops today mate as it pains me to see it on general fab. (Certain pipe applications it's acceptable ) concentrate on getting stringers like the ones below.
EsCHEn your Tig is great mate and you should be happy with recent results. When you sending me some scrap to try out?

You'll have your Adaptor to play with tomorrow mate. Hope it's just the ticket. Have you got 3 Tig torches now. You must be buying loads of them EWM 5 pin plugs.
