TIG welding cast iron.....HELP!

MWW....it may only be 40 amps but TIG is slow so the heat builds up

MIG wire is Nickel Iron 55/45 or 60/40 or Nilo55

Ah, I see what you mean. I was only doing 10-15mm runs & it was still cracking!!
I shall say to the boss about that mig wire, thanks for the info!

Well, I finally finished all this cast iron guttering. In the end the method that seemed to work best was mig welding small runs then while it's still red hot using a chipping hammer to counter the shrinkidge.
I couldn't try brazing as we havnt got any stuff for that & the job needed doing urgently! But there is some ordered ready for next time.

wrought iron is the one i allways struggel with, cast can go from a piece of cake to inpossible to weld depending what it is.

as it'd only going to be holding itself up there i would just braze it, plenty strong and no messing about
