Tig welding with auto darkening helmet - Can't see weld area!

I bought one when there was a couple on a serious offer. I paid £130 for mine and ukracer bought the other. Your not wrong it is a cracking mask.

I have one too, it is a great mask, a little heavy though.

It is heavy. That's the down side to having a nice large adf. It's quite well balanced though I find. It's not feeling like it wants to pull my head off.

This is what I bought but it cost a bit more than yours! I have been very pleased with the difference it has made.

Iv bought the phamton xl also, havnt tried it yet though. The one I bought has a 1/1/1/2 optical classification. The older models I think where 1/2/1/2.

I bought one of the Lincoln electric helmets recently to replace my old helmet and its a revelation. Its got a huge front lens for a start and the darkening is superb. I run TIG on 9 and its crystal clear. It also comes with grooves to take a "cheater" lens to account for my old eyes which is awesome. Using a 2.0d lens and its like a jumbo size weld pool!!!

Mine does try to slide off sometimes but i do get in some strange positions and i do have a "distinctive" shaped head. It is a huge adf though.

I have a cheap mask with green tint and it is completely fine, is even really light and comfortable too. No complaints about cheap masks from me.
