The shop, local to me was kind enough to let me have a "second" fitting, in steel. As my threads were not as good as they needed to be.



In Place, yes Mr Ex owner, still waiting very hard to find parts.
But looking good in green.




SHINNNNNNNY. Imperial fixings, all 1/2 Whit. Heavy duty washers and some 1/4 by 2" split pins.
Ordered Monday, was told be with me Wednesday.
Happy me.

i wish it was free and very local and i had no projects at the time so seen it asked and got offered the pic they posted did not show how bad it was (dont think this was intentional just they was a quick pic was taken) i was only going for it as a mate has a mower with the same engine and thought

i did think if was 2 patches both sides id have a go but there is only 14 inches that is still attached for some reason i did not try to start the mower

I’ve got an older Mountfield than that, the deck on mine is cast aluminium, the engine is a Tecumsah. We bought it second hand 25 years ago, still going strong, one new blade & a new plug, that’s all. (New plug wasn’t needed, just gave it a treat) I looked at changing it a while back, guy in garden centre said “you won’t get one as good as that unless you spend a lot of money” That one obviously hasn’t been looked after, might be worth looking around for a scrap deck.

the cast ali is what you want ive got 2 of them just dont bump any thing with them as the ali gets old it snaps quite easy

id let you have this one but the petrol cost would mean you could buy a new china one delivered for the same cost

This was a disposable display stand thrown away by a garden center, gave it a bit of fettling and a coat of paint and sold it on Gumtree for a tenner.

Today I acquired a replacement for this (this is a photo of the old one):

and, much to my astonishment, managed to fit it to my mobile phone (a three year old OnePlus 5) and not break the phone in the process. I can now charge my battery again!

It's been getting harder and harder to get the USB-C cable to engage with the socket (which I guess isn't that surprising given it's been plugged in and unplugged at least daily for over three years). I don't need to charge it that often: the battery lasts about 3 days; it's just a habit I'm in of plugging it in when I go to bed.

Anyway, I ordered a replacement board yesterday, along with a couple of oddly named plastic tools ("spudgers"). I followed an ifixit guide, got the phone apart and back together and it works! Just need to fit a new screen protector now (I must be on about my tenth of those, but that's because I keep dropping my phone!)

Hopefully that should keep the phone going for a few more years yet. I really can't see the point of getting a new one every couple of years.

I sent seller the photo. She replied that she checked them herself and they had no holes. Thats either accusing me as a liar or of damaging them. PJS tools in Sittingbourne, avoid.

I also phoned up Parweld, just to check if these were genuine or fakes. Genuine. She offered to put another pair in the post. They arrived today and no holes, and better fit than the other two. So now I have 3 pairs. The hole'y pair I will use for grinding.

Consider turning the defective ones inside out and hand stitching a repair. I've done that before with gloves, only took a few minutes and was worth the effort.

A small cast iron Fly Press arrived today. Has a 2 1/4" by 6" throat. Should be easy enough to adapt my Whitney punch & dies to fit, and would be a lot easier to use than the hand tool.
The owner said it's presently set up to install brass eyelets in tarp's.

Acquired this small flypress back in May and finally got around to refurbishing it. Was gummed up but operates smoothly now. Still need to machine several adapters, to replace the hand tools for the small punch, rivet, and eyelet tools I have.

A genuine WD magneto bearing puller, for use not show, have a pair of condensers to replace, worth £30.00 to me,

in use today, 194 G3L died last week, on the way to Bert's funeral! needs a little love, had it on the road for a great many years, no valve clearance , magneto bearings noisy and I hope just the condenser has failed, cam bearings in the crankcase were sloppy when I built the bike up, not got any better over the years, only noticed them at the last second but need the bike on the road so thought I would replace them the following month, and that was 21 years ago, that was also when I last set the valve clearances I have used it a lot over the years, general hack, winter bike, shopping bike at Le Mans for many years, paddock bike at SPA, many rallies, and covid shopping trips.

If you wash them the leather becomes dried out, I put them on the line then tumble them on cool to soften them back up. Not as good as new but get you by.

A replacement camera for the tiny digital job I've been using and failing with for years (no viewfinder and held at arms length to see what I'm shooting and a 1 in 10 properly-focused success rate). The replacement is a Canon PowerShot A710IS with an optical viewfinder so hopefully camera shake will be a thing of the past. Not the ultimate in cameras but it should be more than good enough for my needs.
