Today I might have acquired arc eye?
So I was using my super new 3m speedglas helmet (with the adflo air kit)....all the gear on feeling very happy with myself....struck the arc and then realised I hadn't put the bloomin welding lens down
That's the first time I've every done that and now I'm worrying...hopefully the perspex grinding shield is designed with idiots in mind and that has uv protection....and I was wearing my standard specs too.....fingers crossed...I feel like such a fool!

That's the same model someone sold on ebay recently for about 600 quid with a rusty compressor and some rotten oxy fuel gear. He had it advertised as RTech.

like away...it was my own stupid fault. I was grumpy because it was a favour for someone and I wasn't enjoying doing it at all so think I was in a mood!....so I checked the grinding perspex shield and it is stamped "ansi z87" which might (I hope) be some kind of UV protection type rating?. It was only 2-3 seconds so hopefully I'm OK.

I got a free tyre today. I wasn't sure whether to bother as I've had to spend money to get rid of some old tyres fairly recently (tyres that I've had so long that, had I chucked them out when I first got them I could have sent them to the tip for free) but it's the right size for my daily, has decent tread, and will do to go on a spare wheel for when I need to paint mine again.

Should be fine most/all clear plastic will filter uv.

I found this online...I now feel comfortable enough to change out of my brown trousers!
Its amazing that they thought of everything...I'm even happier with my 3m helmet now (assuming I'm asleep at 3am of course!). Sort of makes sense I guess...if 2 welders are working together and one is grinding they'd need protection from the arc uv too.

I got the bed and legs for my Holbrook back to my workshop, and pulled up the steep slope on a small wheeled hydraulic platform over rough concrete, assisted by my brother and cousin, and not only did nobody die, but we managed not to smash anything. Holbrooks are soooo heavy!!

Not much to show, some I liberated, some I was given and one was found.
Some for me, some for others and one for a friend.
Classic Ever Ready Space Beam Torch.
The bulb looks look and has continuity, I just need to get a decent battery.
A good T cut and a polish should have this cleaned up a treat.
A few useful bits donated to me by a "Big Boss" at work. For my current tasks, no use. But you can never have enough screwdrivers or caulking guns.
The black thing, is very useful, gets me into a secure loft space. Plus it has the secure loft hatch reset tang.
A brand new hole set, I asked my boss if I can have a new arbour and drills to keep my set going. Some unknown reason I got a new set.
Rumour has it, as mine are a Bosch set. It was cheaper to send me this that get Bosch units.
A Stanley 2 Speed brace drill, bit tight on the movement. But this is going to used to help a friend out of his depression. Few coffees, bit of food (Spare ribs and garlic bread) will see it cleaned up, ready to be used and a happy friend.

The first and so far only time I did it I walked into A&e at 03.00 panicking as I didn't realise what I had done . As I opened the door to go in I heard the nurse say "ark eye" . Never been so pleased .I can't 'like' that! You will find out at 3.00am when it kicks in like I did a couple of weeks ago

Eyes were absolutely fine....think i was very lucky (actually I think that 3m kit is excellent and maybe they idiot proofed the design!)
