Today I acquired...........

I went to put the bins out earlier, and there was something up against the back gate. Turned out to be a bicycle, a Rockrider rrs2 or something i have never heard of. Disc brakes, aluminium frame etc. Not been used in a long time judging by the rust on the fasteners and the one piece chain. Needs a tube, a seat and a chain. Worth doing ? I was looking in skips for a bicycle (i only shop in the best places) and there was one over the back gate . Pics tomorrow.

Rockrider cycles are sold by Decathlon, I have no idea as to their quality, but you may well be able to find out some sort of value from their web site.

Its just the bits i listed, a tube, a chain and a seat. Thats all the thing will stand me. I reckon Halfrauds would have the bits, haven't priced them though.

I have a couple of these and a couple of PB Swiss ratchet drivers, the other Snap On are of the earlier handle too:

THey are both nice, the PB Swiss are, as you would expect, of super quality but the Snap on one can be faster. I am really interested in the WERA ones @KimB has bought and I am wondering how they are working out. They are just a bit too expensive to buy to "try out".

Dunno what gears, only had a quick look under the outside light. Its rusty, but i have citric acid for the rusty bits. I'll have a look in dealz (what poundland is called over here) and see online how much a chain is, i might be able to citric the old one too. The seat is ok-ish, the padding is gone off the front of it, again i'll have a butchers online. Should be a days fun getting it up and going.

They are 13 point. I asked the snap on man why and he said “to stop idiots like you using them as spanners and suing snap on when you cut your hand”

Picked one up for a tenner this week, 18 speed raleigh something, frame is a bit small, but I pulled the seat right up, replaced one of the gearchange cables and it's sorted. The small frame is not such a bad thing, saves getting the veg trapped on the bar, andI'm not as,quick as I used to be at getting,one leg down.

Robin, check with MDro that its as it says it is. They sold me my cross slide one as a single end mounted and the readable travel is greatly increased.
Unfortunately something on mine is special order from Newall and it won't be coming til May, now I was quite specific about the travels I wanted.

The small frame is not such a bad thing, saves getting the veg trapped on the bar, andI'm not as,quick as I used to be at getting,one leg down.

Thats one issue with me, i'm not the tallest in the world and the frame on this bike does look big. I'll find out tomorrow.
