I got a nice piece of I beam that was going to the scrapyard. It will clamp in the bench vice nicely for hammering and bending stuff.

27 square meters of 3mm mild steel plate. Used to line a spray booth floor but never used. Bought a cut50 plasma cutter to trim off all the folds etc. All for less than the price of one 3000x1500x3 sheet

We designed these to go in the van widow for the toy shop, very happy and a nice advert in the traffic.
Looks a tidy LT,wish I could find an almost rust free one again .

We have owned it for about 7 years, it was a ex Gloucester social services bus, it has been very reliable and you don't see many blue ones about so we get spotted everywhere we go.

Boot fair score today. Guy had two carbide-tipped Swiss micrometers which he wanted a tenner each for. Metioned that he had a digital caliper in the car so I asked to look at it. Was a genuine Mitutoyo and like new. He asked £40 for that so I bought all three without haggling.
Then I spotted the slightly rough looking R8 chuck arbor and asked how much for that - he threw it in for free!

I wanted to try a wp20 flex head so ordered a cheapy from amazon for £7.
A review mentions one of the water connections comes out the gas/power fitting, it does. The head is quite stiff, copper pipe runs straight through?
I did think it was the same thread as a wp17. What is a 6mm 28tpi?

Was given my dads national service photo album by my dad

Not today, but Saturday I acquired a tube of hacksaw blades thanks to @Milkybars.
I got them with the intention of finally getting my Velox 10 inch saw to cut steel better than it brakes blades.
Hopefully I will have sorted it out before I run out of blades, again.
I couldnt find much info on the saw online but @Seadog did post a link to Velox saws in another thread.
As I knew the blades were coming I had another look for a manual and I found this on ebay, which came the same day.
it's a fairly slim volume at 11 pages (and about £1 a page) and not the exact saw but close enough to be of use.
From it I was able to discover how to adjust the "dash pot" so the saw cuts on the pull stroke. (well worth the asking price for this nugget on its own)
This is the normal way of cutting for this type of saw but it turns out it was configured to cut on the push stroke.
It works a lot better now and relieves the pressure on the return stroke, but I still need to work out the correct way to set the saw up.
It can apply so much pressure on the cutting stroke that it starts to complain (and strip teeth) so you have to adjust the rate of lowering on the fly which is not ideal.
I will start a thread and ask for help in the "Tools and Workshop Equipment" section.

Also a "fire starter" blower fan. Plan to use for lathe smoke extraction. A quick test its not too loud but shifts a decent amount of air, so a second one ordered for something else.

Not today, but over the last couple of weeks.
1/ Long term leaking dishwasher, due to leak (obviously), but the leak float being stuck, and a long term dribble under my kitchen floor. I bought a new machine, which was delivered, only for me to find a big dent around the hinge area.
Cue 40 minutes phoning company, and trying to get someone online.
Trip down to store, back to house, me and neighbour bunged said dented dishwasher into the back of my car. Swapped for another one, got home, all fitted. No one died.
2/ Washing machine went Tonto on me, and oversudded. Cue much cleaning, emptying and refilling machine. Literally rinse and repeat.
3/ Freezer in desperate need of defrosting, and I never noticed door had not properly closed. 12 hours later, met with partially frozen, partially defrosted/refrozen freezer. Oh, what fun I had.
4/ Toilet cistern has gone on permanent fill, however I set the ballcock, etc. Still to be acquire a permanent solution.
5/ Constant fight with Post Office due to Etsy and Royal Mail insisting I purchase postage online (new customs payment).
6/ My leather sewing machine clutch has died, and it is generally feeling the pace. I gave up, and have paid out too much money on a brand new Cowboy 3200. It took me two days of dismantling, and rebuilding my Juki machine before I admitted it was time to bury it, though. So new shiny machine soon to be with me.
7/ Oh, and my washing machine is now leaking. It’s lovely and clean inside, and has never worked so well in years, but is leaking. The door seal may be needing replaced. Until I order a new one, I bought a really cheap splash pool (don’t know what that is, but I think it’s a child’s paddling pool with airs), and built a temporary drip tray to sit the washing machine in.
8/ My ring doorbell caught someone at my back gate, “looking for their kittens” the other night. Managed to scare the willies out if him. It’s amazing what slamming a light on, while loudly throwing open a front door can do the biggest of skulkers.
So what did I acquire today?
The end of my patience, and an increased sense of the absurd.

"acquired" this hole in the blast hose within 5 mins of using, though. Brother had literally said to me "hey that seems like a really good bit of kit" and it burst while i was holding it... I poo'ed a little!
Was incredibly cheap and everything else is OK. The seller has already posted out a new hose with apologies, which is as good as I can hope for.
I might try making a @brightspark valve at some point, also would like to put a heavier duty hose on it altogether... 1/2" 280bar hydraulic hose would make me feel a lot safer being around a hose full of pressurised shot! Especially when the eventual aim is to hook it up to the cabinet and do away with the suction gun...

That's what I have on mine, single wire hydraulic hose and it has lasted well.
It's not too stiff and restricts the bend radius which I think causes the problem in the first place.
Another option is steam hose but it's not so easy to find kicking about the place.

That's it... 8 bar isn't a huge amount of pressure and being a brand new hose it should have been fine... certainly looked and felt the part, being good and thick. Obviously horribly cheap nasty stuff. For £120 delivered they had to cut corners somewhere i suppose.
Do you know what size is right? They stated 3/8" on the literature but to me it looks like 1/2" hose would suit it much better.
