The low voltage side makes me wonder if it was for testing valve sets and that's for heater voltageI was gifted this today. A lovely old voltmeter for radio use (says on the dial )

The "Sharpie" copies work just fine. Like a sharpie albeit the lid clip is obviously fragile.Cheap markers from AliExpress.
2 packs similar to Sharpies.
1 pack of long nib pens seem useful
1 pack of white markers for dark surfaces. Will try them later.

It is for checking the battery voltages/state of charge for the early valve radios. 8 volt range for the heater accumulator and 160 volt range for the H.T. Battery.I was gifted this today. A lovely old voltmeter for radio use (says on the dial )

Interesting letter opener, has a date on the upside down pic.
No idea why it's upside down.
Anyone know what it's from?

Look at the base of the case.
Mixed box of new fangled metric screws to try, whats wrong with a good old inch 8?
Old money sizes are right there on the box...Mixed box of new fangled metric screws to try, whats wrong with a good old inch 8?
It was a bit tongue in cheek, they will all go in with the same size hammerIf you like inches, what size drill bit do you need for a clearance hole for a #8 screw? (Answer is 'obviously' 5/32"). For a 4 mm screw you need a 4 mm clearance hole. Okay, so a #8 screw is the basically same size as a 4 mm screw, but it's so much simpler with metric.
