I've been given some effects from a deceased's persons estate , it seems it stood in a not too water tight shed for the last 20 years .
A lovely very heavy 5 inch Woden vice , the top leading edge of both the jaws have tiny chips out of them , other than that it looks as though it has rarely been used , the grease on the lead screw looks nearly new .
One thing though is that the jaws don't have much grip profile on them and they were not very tight in the seats , You can't invert the jaws as there's a few mm mismatch to fit ( I tried )
The securing screws for the jaws are well thread worn making me think someone has swapped the jaws and put in the worn ones in thei place many years ago
Questions :-
If any of you have a big 5 inch Woden , do any of you know what the thread of the countersunk jaw screws are . I'm guessing they 5/16 th's BSF x 1 inch long but would like confirmation if possible before I buy some high tensile ones .
