I had a similar experience with a tripe dish. There were a lot of smiles when I ordered it, including from the waiter. I think that they were surprised to see the plate finished.

I can confirm that turning up pizzed to restaurant and ordering by pointing to things on the menu written in Japanese is not a good plan.

Excentric shaft is 50mm diameter, looks very well made, I estimate weigth at 50kg.
It is at least 20 years old, but unused.

Nobody ever made like my granny, and she taught my Ma how to.

There's a spanish dish callos (said cajos) which is a tripe stew, when I was a kid me and my sister were made to eat it a few times. wrapped up in all sorts stuff to disguise the revolting sh*t.
Probably much like that French stuff, if its so good in the first place why try and hide the taste and texture of a Michelin man.

Now proper duck cassoulet from round carcasonne is heart stopping good regardless of the stuff thrown in, had neck in mine in toulouse - yummy

I had tripe once as a kid. Rule was, you sit at the table till finish dinner. Three hours later my mum gave me a slice of Brad bread and butter and let me go. Everyone else managed to eat it but she never made it again! I have had andouillettes though and didn't mind it, just a bit dull and chewy!
At a tangent, they say the Chinese will eat it if it walks with its back to the sun. I have had some spectacular Chinese meals but seem to have avoided some of the more "interesting" dishes!

When I was a student nurse over 30 years ago, that town had the highest rates of incest in the South West, we had to read case studies.

I remember the lorry that used to collect waste from the butchers in the 60's, it was just a covered wagon with a load of open 45 gallon drums in the back, they would bring out the waste in buckets to empty into the drums, in the summer the stink was appalling.
