Well, it was sitting there all alone on the shelf, surrounded by those common fellows from Calor, so I thought I'd rescue it.
I have the notion of getting the right neck and burner for a bit of silver soldering and hopefully achieve a sufficiently high temp for some brazing, which according to Sievert's bumph can be done at 720degC, so that opens a door or two. Propane is dead cheap and if it means I don't need to get into an oxygen cylinder rental or contract, that's fine and dandy.

You’ll struggle to silver solder with that, not impossible but difficult.
No way is that going to get anything hot enough for brazing. I’ve tried and failed

I find it unlikely that Sievert would be claiming 720degC when it can be easily demonstrated that they're full of it, if that wasn't true. They're not some anonymous ebay seller claiming the earth, and everbody knows they're to be taken with a pinch / barrowload of salt.
Whatever, if it does some silver soldering, that'll do me. I don't have much to braze, and in nearly all of the instances I would think of brazing something, a spot of silver solder would do just as well - fuel tap mountings, small pipes, etc.

Were you using the correct nozzle? There's a fair choice.

I’ve got five or six different nozzles on the older model of that torch. I can see the claim now. Silver solder on jewlerry probably quite possible. I tried silver soldering something a bit bigger and it failed miserably.
Never managed to braze anything with just propane

Made some small brackets to hold the LED light panels in place till we work out what the ceiling in the garage will be finished with and i have to say i am very happy with the lighting compared to all the strip lights we used to have and they use a lot less power, I also got a tap that heats the water for the cabin that only had cold water, It cost £30 and just needs power and a water feed, It is quite a treat in this weather to not have frozen hands.

It came with the 7kW torch head, and I've got my eye on the cyclone burner with 10kW, so that should get things going.

Let me know how you get on, if it works it’s a much cheaper solution than having a bottle of O2.

I’ve tried brazing with propane and got the rod melted but couldn’t get a flow as I couldn’t get the metal hot enough.
I remember at school brazing with natural gas and an air pump of some sort (long time ago now) but this idea sounds similar.

That's a handy idea. These things are never to be found when you look for them ( I mean, buckshee, of course).
In the same line, I was looking at jeweller's reflective soldering and brazing blocks which are pretty much the same thing, and easily available.

this very lil use for it, but always wanted one 100 kg, was 5 shillings and thrupence new, paid 850 dollars

Few days ago I was asked to unlock a Push Button lock on a stowage area. I am know to the site, as I used to do maintenance on the site. But this time I was visiting. The lock is a type we fit at work, so I have the tools to open if the lock or the code is lost.
Once in I was allowed to take the bikes on. TV box was empty.
So after a few days wait to get the legal paper work passing the items over to me. I sold them on.
A nice bit of Curry money was now mine.
