I mean a white backlight! White keys would be disgusting. I think I'm gonna try to find a used mechanical keyboard and find out what all the fuss is about.

IBM Model M. Got two of them, indestructible.
You can still buy them new, but be prepared for sticker shock.
There's another one in my possession from about the same era sold with AST systems, model KB 102. It's lighter than the Model M, but is just as tough and certainly sounds / feels like it's got a buckling spring system inside it. Usual caveat, it comes with an ancient AT connector, but converters are easily got.

Today I acquired...
A brightly-lit Unpleasaunce space.
Two 30W LED floods and a 20W PIR flood for occasional entry and exit without bothering to flip the main lights on.
A shot of them in daylight, just after finishing the wiring...

Next, the Unpleasaunce in all its glory.
A huge pile of crap that isn't actually all crap, but is in the process of being cleared to allow me to lay a decent floor. I'll fit another pair of 30 watters on the other side to even out the illumination.

Looks very similar of the engine the Ministry of agriculture supplied to farms to power everything from Milk vacuum pumps, to beet shredders.
They are a good engine, low revving and solid.

Looks very similar of the engine the Ministry of agriculture supplied to farms to power everything from Milk vacuum pumps, to beet shredders.
They are a good engine, low revving and solid.

Hopefully the data plates will reveal where it went, I've just got to be careful cleaning them so I don't destroy the writing.

Been after a bench drill for a while but can't stretch to a good one and haven't been able to bring myself to spending the money on a cheap one on the most likely chance of it not being any good.

Got this from a mate today, out of a shed. Needed a new belt of which I couldn't find an original so a close match and slight modification to the motor mounts to allow for the slightly different belt and it was working perfectly.

Think it's from the big orange shed originally but it's surprisingly good (for what I need) easily sends a 12mm bit through plate. The motor gets hot a bit too quickly so the duty cycle isn't great but definitely not grumbling. Even got a little drill vice with it.

That was my first ever pillar drill. Did everything I ever asked of it and more. Still sitting in the workshop as a back up

There are loads of this type of stationary engine in India. Just about every small holding has one and they power all sorts of Heath Robinson machinery

India have been building Lister engine clones (Listeroids) for quite a few years, they even export Lister "spares" to the UK, although they don't have a very good reputation with Stationary engine users

Got one of those badged Clarke in the garage.
Does the job. Anything requiring a bit of grunt goes on the mill/drill but still useful for odds and sods.

No issues with overheating mind.
