They were a cracking mower, the deck normally corroded away but the engine was indestructible!
You might not know but you can usually set the engine rev limit at 4000 rpm on Honda mower engines, Briggs limit is only 3300rpm!
All new mower engines come preset to 2800rpm (to keep the blade speed down & emissions down) but we used to 'tweak' them for our professional customers.
Never seen an Ali deak corrod away even with the ones that come to me and admit it not hundreds as I only play with them for hobbie had one that been sat for 5 years with grass under it sat in a tall grass all it needed was a scrape candle clean the deak was fine
The only 2 I seen with holes one had a big gap at the front where some one had driven it in to a tree stump and cracked the cast and one where some one had dropped a heavy item on it and made a hole
