Not so much aquired but found again.

Bought some LH drills from @scottmk1 last year.
Left them safely on the kitchen side with my other important "junk" (the wife)
Ripped the garage and house apart trying to find them a few weeks ago to get a stuck dogpoint out.

Rooting around for a kettle lead tonight I find a bag full of missing bits including these.

Not today, but on Tuesday I acquired some space in my lockup, sold my J&S Surface Grinder and the buyer wanted it delivered up to Junc 29 on the M1



And then stopped off at Junc 28 on the M1 and this followed me home

Dissappointed I had to let the J&S go but just couldn't fit it in the workshop

The XJ has the GM 2.5TD engine and have had one before so know what to expect. For a 20 year old vehicle it has minimal body rust

Yesterday evening I drove Sarn Helen from Banwen to Aberdulais in the D3, for those that don't know its an old roman road that is open to vehicles during the summer months. Really stunning views and close to where I grow up.

Anyway, this is the today I acquired thread so keeping the post on topic, my D3 acquired these last night from trees and other 'shrubs' along the lane



Which is why I need a toy for laning trips

However I was really impressed with the capabilities of the D3, it is a very competent 4x4

Tomorrow I will post a picture of the electric polisher I have coming to help me lose some of the shrub rub

Is that the funny VM Motori with the individual cylinder heads?

I did head gaskets on one years ago.

@Moose McAlpine it is indeed and yes they do have a reputation for eating gaskets

I missed an XJ on eBay that had a Nissan Patrol 2.8TD engine fitted, looke a nice conversion as well.

Didn't know that! I've only done one, it was pretty straight forward aside from need a 46mm spanner to turn the crank and the headbolts were so tight it kept breaking 11mm sockets. (An odd size in itself.)

I still have an odd deep 11mm impact socket from when i did it! One of many obscure sockets knocking about in the toolbox.

What are your plans for it?

They also fitted the engine into the Frontera 2.5TDS and possibly the Omega. I don't think the reputation is well founded but have no evidence to back it up.

It will be turned into a road legal toy for off road activity. It is a little rough looking but not too bothered as its going to go places that are not bodywork friendly, will have the usual suspension lift, bigger tyres, some off road armour, at least a locking rear diff, possibly front as well and a transfer box swap so I can run it on the road in 4WD

It needs different seats, something with better support, I did have a pair of MR2 seats in my Frontera and they were well shaped and stopped you lurching about when off road so will look for something similar

I need to look into diff ratios to compensate for larger diameter tyres and when fitting the lockers probably swap ratios

I would like to do a coil spring conversion on the rear at some point but TBH this will probably not happen as I dont have the time

The body while looking tatty is actually very good, it has previously had a couple of small patches on the sills but for a 20 yr old motor it is remarkably rust free

Am planning on running it for the next 7 or 8 years while I sort out the G Wagon

Or rather it would have been, the seller messaged me to say he noticed when he came to post it, one of the jaws of the big one is loose. He's being very nice about it and has offered a partial refund though.

Instead of giving me the money the owed me, despite being promised. They have changed my tax code so I pay less tax and get the monies that way.

I know Been on the phone again.

Because one company fouled my Tax up has now, gone bust, restarted under a new name, went bust again. There is no way they can claim the monies back from them.
That I can understand.
But the processed the whole claim under that idea, no humans.

So Now I am back on a temp tax code. My Pay office is getting frustrated with this and now I wait again.
