Found some new double-end triangle files at the boot fair for a pound. The 3-split handles are a bonus as I already have several of these type but never even knew you could get special handles for them.

I got some bits too , highest price paid was a fiver for the drill , there was a good little compressor too, £55,

So last night I ordered all I needed following advice and suggestions

Then this presented itself at the car boot this morning. It’s mains or car 12v lighter plug. 3 quid and brand new. I have the much older version

I will need to source a new blade for that TYA. Look at these two giveaways sitting on my lap. I was thinking of gears maybe for my steam toys projects ( however , they will not be butchered)
I know you are the resident expert on all these lovely old hand tools. Look at the lack of quality as time went on..

As you can see , I have already used the decent one : )

The top one, the better one in my view, as a loose chuck.
The cone should be screwed down on the base plate. If not the 3 jaws can become misaligned, thus crap the springs.

The lower one was made for mass production and aimed the lower end of the DIY market. They hoped the good name would shift them.

This is one off my Oldest Egg Beater Drill.
Dated 1943, I have one in restoration, dated 1942.



Gets used a lot. The gearing and the jaws are great for small holes.



If you zoom in you can see the difference between the chuck on yours, then see how it should be.
