Tool Bag or Tool Box recommendations?

im exact opposite id rather have a few tool boxes for the jobs needed

and not one thats packed and stacked so heavy your struggerling had that in my teen years swore id never go that way and i never have done

plumbing box
electrical box, electrical screwdrivers i there own carrying sleeve
builders tub buckets and general plastering gear in them
general toolbox, screwdrivers, adjustables
have an expensive chisel set thats in its own carry container

electrical gear drills and hammer drills are in there own boxes

router, jigsaw, circular saw are on there own

Guys I don't want roll around tool storage

I just want something that I can take my essentials to cover the job I'm doing

The thing is some of the tools people probably lug around with them they probably don't actually need!

Those points are exactly the problem, you never know exactly what tools you may or may not need for a job.

I don't think that you'll find the perfect box or bag, if you do please let me know.

I used to have a circle of rope edged canvas with handles. probably 600mm in diameter. Ideal most of the time for random jobs, and long tools could poke out either end. I vaguely remember it being called a plumbers tool roll.

I've had good use n luck from the Stanley rolling box's....big enough to use but small enough to put in the boot.....mine came from B+Q
bought 1 then had to have another.about £40 a peice...
nice internal trays.....very strong..big enough for the drills etc.....
just love em.....
one of mine was dragged about for years doing a lot of miles (jobsites n factories) and the best bit 20 years on still using them.....

For years I used something similar to the boxes tescos deliver your shopping in. But with out holes in. Now for jobs about home I actually use a tesco delivery box, sits well on the back of the quad, if Im moving about. Easy to carry. And free.

Grab a box out the lockup as needed

I’ve got one of those, ideal for chucking stuff in for odd jobs - I’d say that was perfect for what the op wants. It’s got a rigid bottom (oo-er missus) and the top, while obviously material, has some bendy strengthening poles in so it gives some protection to the contents. Obviously not as much as a rigid box but better than a carrier bag. I usually have that if I need stuff like a drill and larger socket set etc, then my smaller tools (screwdrivers, multimeter etc) go in a CK magma tool case.

Another vote for the snap on one. Very well put together - I use it for taking what I need to where I'm working to save getting on and off ships to get to the truck etc. Easily holds drill, impact, grinder and the hand tools you want. I dont really organise it as such, just throw in what I need but I'm sure if i used it properly and sorted it out i could get a lot more in.

On another snap on vein - I've a cantilever barn box. Its like a cantilever with barn lids. you can get plenty in there, but i have rivited socket rails etc to the cantilever lids (under the barn lid) to get even more in it. Prehaps not the way forward for you as I ended up making a dolly to move it about on!!

Same as Gaz, for on the move I keep everything in separate boxes. The cheaper plastic boxes are a waste of space, they always bulge/split and fall apart. The surprise box for me are the ones from Wickes called Tactix , super tough and stackable, built a bit like the expensive contico`s but a fraction of the cost.

You could use these as axle stands, much stronger than the Dewalt or Fat fecks etc and a lot cheaper, also truly waterproof with a properly thought out seal. Two sizes available

My go-to pick up and grab electrical box was getting to the point i was always struggling to close the lid, so had a big clear out, axed a few rarely used tools, and probably a few Kg of odd random bits. Bits of bus bar, grommets, nuts, bolts, fuses, cable ties, short bits of wire to use as jumpers, relays that sort of thing
I found it wasn't any of the tools I missed but it was the odd bits that made the difference in a quick fix or having to go and find something and return.
