Tools for a budding mechanic

[My Old Landy]

I am thinning out my tools and thought I would give a few to the lad who is helping with my Land Rover. He has bought himself a 1970 Triumph Spitfire and has no tools at all.
There is a toolbox to put them in too. The Yamoto spanners were the first set my father bought me when I was 16. Shame a few are missing.
Can you think of anything else that may be of use as I am sure I have it it is just a starter set but any suggestions are most welcome!

I agree, but the main ones we are still using on the Land Rover. He will get them all when has finished putting it back together

agree but the sockets should definalty be 6 sided otherwise he will be rounding nuts off, and one of those impact drivers you hit with hammer.

My thoughts exactly and mig welding lessons. A 1970 spitfire was a rust bucket 40 years ago, cant imagine they've improved since. Though I do have a soft spot for old Triumphs having owned a few in my yoof!

This particular sample has had a lot of work and is in quite good condition.
I do have spare axle stands but no extra jack, but a good call on both.

I used in on my Mini back in the day if he doesn't use it then so be it!

Ideas to add to the other great suggestions:
vicegrip pliers, long nose pliers, flared spanner for brake lines, general purpose side cutters, feeler gauges, drift punches, torque wrench, bolt extractors/drill bits!

How are the electrics on spitfires? Wire strippers, crimp tool/crimps, jump leads/pack, timing light, spare fuses

First car? - Tyre pressure/depth gauge, pump, and general motoring accessories

Also, is there a driver handle for the driver bits and a bar to turn the box spanners - I wasn't sure from the photos.

If you can spare... torque wrench, breaker bar, longer reach drivers - 1970 Triumph - and a welder although I'm sure you would borrow yours.

couple of magnets on a stick type things . and a clamp for brake pipes.
