Well I'd post up a picture of my best piece but it's out in the vehicle which is backed up to a fence...
I've never tried a duckbill hammer as is used in the video, I rather fancy one for the fairly easy jobs such as that one, and for super single tyres. Not come across a cheap one and not prepared to spend money on one, tempted to make one instead but haven't got that far.

I bought this trailer off an old chap I used to work for, before I started doing tyres myself. He told me they were far easier to do than ordinary ones and much better, the only downside was the danger when they aren't assembled properly.
Well, I have come to detest them and would rather have an ordinary rim and two tyre levers every time. Grrr.

Going down to Wrexham tomorrow to pick a Dexter up for a Christmas present!
Watched the tyre fitters on fitting tyres to the forestry machines. Crickey that's hard work. For the bigger machines you are talking upto £10,000 for a tyre! Some of them fill them with water for ballast. Gives the machine more stability

We used to let the tyre down, put a piece of scaffolding plank on it up to the bead then drive something heavy up the plank to break the bead.

it's chloride based from memory not water you don't want frozen tyres

It's probably a darn sight easier to get those massive tyres on and off than the pesky 4" ride on lawnmower ones.
I would rather do the big ones any day.

Yes, 4 and 6" rims are just the work of the devil by comparison. Give me a 38 inch rim and no assistant any day, provided it's fixed to the tractor.
Using jacks, running over tyres and all that carry on are only suitable for when they're on the ground. And frankly, it's still harder than a piece of angle iron and a big hammer. Taking off tractor tyres with the wheel off the machine is something I never do on anything bigger than a 24", it's just damn hard work and more likely to result in straining myself.
Water ballasting? Can be water with antifreeze, common choice round here. Or Calcium Chloride as mentioned, very corrosive, awful stuff. Heavier than plain water though, great while it remains in the tyre. Beet juice can be used. People have used screenwash too.

Watched a pro doing once and he made it look easy.
He used two or three small clamp on bead breakers and did all the hard work by jacking the tractor up and down to either make the weight of the tyre or the weight of the tractor do the work. Hardly needed the levers at all!

My wheels are off the tractor so looks like i've got a bit of a battle. At home i've not got anything heavy to drive over them..i'm not using me car!

The brother-in-law is buying it for his kids. Just been to pick it up today. Lashed down all the way down the M6 and all the way back. Rained for 48 hours non-stop here. Tractor is a bit rough. Oil leaks everywhere, poss cylinder head gasket, dynamo not wired up and looks like a fair bit of back pressure. 2 minutes glow plugs before starting is that the norm? Not sure if it will get an overhaul. Mudguards are home made, bonnets is ok but needs paint and the front grille needs replaced. Try and post some pics after christmas.
No definitely water based he had the outside tap connected to it. Do they add anti-freeze? Will have to ask.
done enough of this at work. it's one of those jobs that not as bad as it looks.
my 1st choice method isn't an option but it involves a loading shovel.

sadly it is the angel iron and a big hammer, the tyer has proably been on there for ages so it's going to be a twerp to get it moveing but once it's started moveing the rest follows much easyer

sadly it is the angel iron and a big hammer, the tyer has proably been on there for ages so it's going to be a twerp to get it moveing but once it's started moveing the rest follows much easyerIf the angle iron dosn't work, cut some hard wood wedges and drive them in around the rim, you will split and smash the wedges in the process but they will get the tyre to move a bit then use the piece of angle. I have done this many times. Tractor tyres are relatively easy as they have soft walls, 18" JCB 5 ply front tyres are a struggle, used to break the bead of them using the edge of a loader bucket.
