Transporting gas bottles.

After a visit from the local fire brigade our H&S man is having our Acetylene bottles removed as he was told if local businesses lose trade if they are cut off with a 200m exclusion zone they can sue us - which has already happened in Birmingham.

When we set up our business we spoke at length with the health and safety executive and the department for transport.

For non flamable compressed gas the maximum load you can carry without an ADR licence is 1000 kgs of product. The maximum load of flamable gas is 400 kgs. Loads under these amounts are exempt from most regulations . You do not need the customary gree diamond sticker by the letter of the law , however it is regarded as a courtest for the fire brigade etc. I posed the question about ambulances and was told that there is no legar requirement for them to have compressed gas stickers !!

PS we carry our loads in a transit van , with a bulkhead , and have a sticker for our own peace of mind.
