These things have got out of hand,how unusual lol,been threatening to get a gang in to trim,I did them with a tower on top of a shipping container in 1999,I’m wealthier and older now ,so 2/3rds off and eventually get replaced with something native,the daylight will be a sight to enjoy.Only damage,despite numerous sheds underneath was 1 snapped tine on the buck rake.

They will probably all bush out now from the bottom, seen it a lot with Leylandii. Better off getting them down to ground level and kill them off with some Eco plugs.

Ammonium sulphate has alway been my go to.
But if felled to ground they won't grow back

Cherry picker is cheating 
I want to do this, have been practising climbs with a buddy with the proper kit, and on my own with my rock climbing kit. First climb went most of the way up this oak.
Will be a few weeks before I have the proper first aid, chainsaw and climb training done.

Be careful, once bitten you just can't leave it.
The reward for rigging out a difficult part, or climbing a big tree and cutting within 1m of the tips is hugely rewarding.
Then you decide you need to get away, but you are drawn back in.
You tell people you are no longer climbing, they harass you until you come back to it.
I will say, learn to climb SRT, learn how to redirect efficiently you can hugely reduce the required physical input which is key to climbing 5 days a week

Had an ash reduced on Thursday and I have to admit to being impressed by the " tree fella's".Actually there were five.
Next a question ,Can anyone please give me an idea as to how long before I can start feeding the woodstove .Is it any good as a heat source . Also I would like to have a go at making a rifle stock is this wood any good for that. Thanks.

It's a strange game, you get a good team who are switched on it and it's impressive.
Sadly you also get brain dead Herbert's whom will happily destroy everything and anything.
Also the science side doesn't interest people but it has a real bearing on what's best for the tree and customer.
Ash will burn green, give it a few months probably one of the best woods.

Can you recommend any gear/ppe that is worth paying extra for, over the stuff provided for free?
One guy doesnt climb anymore, always uses kevlar gloves. The other doesnt like using a saw with gloves at all.
Already sliced my knuckle open being careless with a silky saw
Ive already seen that, washing line smashed to peices on the first day

Got to get three hundred of the feckers out and destumped by the end of next week, we are using a rooting fork on our excavator to grub the lateral roots out between and behind them, then pushing them over with the machine and cutting the rootball off. WTC coming in to chip the lot for biomass.
All about 40`tall.
Telehandler tyre got stabbed by an iron stake.

Ash you can burn right away. Green or brown, as they say in the poem. It's also considered to be the king of firewood because it burns so well, hot and clean and doesn't spit.

One good thing about owning the tree is that you have a choice cut it down or whatever. A lot of problems are caused when large trees are on the neighbour's side and they refuse to do anything about it.
It is not so bad if a large tree is on the side where the sun goes down. Next door are 2 massive trees on the boundary. At chimney height, and wide too. Several hours of sun are behind these trees each day. The neighbour is not affected at all and ignores the issue. The law says there is no right to light.

Around here so many of these nuisance trees are also protected by a blanket conservation or TPO, they outgrow their position but there is little to nothing that can be done with them.

The sale of wet wood wont really affect most users, its for quantities over two cube. Most log users have enough savvy to air dry/season wet wood. Makes a lot more sense to use air/time to season a log than the insane amount of energy used in kiln drying.
