Trend Airshield making your own filters?

Just found this Good result Chunko, if the air is sucked in through the slots in the top could you put something, like part of a pair of tights, over the whole helmet as a pre-filter?

Wouldn't the dangling legs and feet get in the way.....

Why not use an actual sock of the correct size with the fibre filter material inside? Good for a laugh anyway!!!

Yep a big thread resurrection, but having just had to pay £28 for a pair of filters I was wondering if the DIY version @chunkolini came up with was worth it long term or maybe just gone back to the expensive ones?

Right now the filters for this thing are anywhere from £32 to into the 50s I really need to work out an alternative.
Are you still DIYing it @chunkolini or are you so loaded you just buy the originals.

I played with the white filter stuff from gish tanks but went back to the original.
Lucky as I was doing this s couple of weeks ago.

Disgusting job three walls of ****ty old black plaster to remove.
Ten minutes later

But I could breathe and no plastery snot afterwards.
Well worth £20 the pair.
They come up well after going through the dishwasher.

I like that idea, using commonly available 3m filters.

Asking the obvious here but can't you put a home made washable filter over the 'proper' ones - so most of the big stuff is filtered, but the small is still caught by a certified filter? Or have I misread and that's what you tried?

Tricky to do that due to the space available inside the helmet where the filters are located.

A good excuse to buy a £500 3d printer to save £20 on filters
