Trolley jack release

I have a 3 ton trolley jack that has been immense for us. BUT Its had a broken release mechanism for a while. now its fallen off and I cant find it. Its a low profile jack and I cant find any diagrams of how the linkage used to work. There is a knuckle as far as I remember trhat had a square end where the jack handle dropped over it. you could then lock and unlock the jack whereever the handle was lying.

Dont suppose anyone has that type. I am pretty sure the one I have is a neilsen product so I am guessing parts and diagrams are unlikely to be available, so I will need to make something. But it would be nice to have a photo of what it should look like..lol

I think I have found what I need but sadly the part is in america.

any suggestions on finding one in the UK.

That part number throws up a few hit. None in uk sadly but alternatives like HF, sears, Blackhawk etc.

Also is the same part on a Michelin G735 it seems, which may be easier to find in Europe?

Seems Cromwell stock the Michelin. Or a Michelin anyway.

Oh these look good. I just need to measure up and get the right size. Then weld it and machine the square .

But the bit that is a different length is not the bit that is broken on your own. If it is only the UJ that is broken and that just pins to the shaft.

The only important thing is to get the centreline of the UJ close in line with the pivot axis of the handle (and have the upper end freee floating to accommodate any misalignment).

If you want to future-proof it against breakage, go down to the local lorry park and borrow a propshaft off a Scania.

Yeah. The thing I was pointing out (in my head) was the fact I am not going to be 100% certain of getting an identical one so measuring and buying a cheap Uj of ebay seems the best option anyway.

i live in the states, Ive gotten parts from spareto quicker than amazon... recently.
amazon package 700 miles away, spareto parts, 3200 miles away.
id have zero faith on ordering anything from US.
why not use a 1/4" wobble and weld it to the plunger?

Forgot the photos BUT I am back on it now.
My ham-fisted son found the flaw in the repair.
I am guessing it's to do with what @Agroshield pointed out as he went to pump it up and it just snapped.

I can't quite figure out what I need to measure to order the correct u joint.

Unless I'm missing something the one you have is too short - the spider on the UJ should be in line with the centreline the handle pivots on (the center of the pivot shaft)
Difficult to gauge scale but it looks like the piece in the photo is about an inch too short.

The spider being the complicated bit in the center?

That's the one I purchased.

Nah, he just used the same fixing holes instead of setting the connector exactly centred on the radius, as the handle is arced from flat to vertical.
