normaly I never bother or forget to turn it off after use .went by the garage and heard the compressor running ohh well no big deal if left on it tops up after maybe a few weeks . seemed to be running a long time looked in and the motor was hot and it was minging turned it off and I heard a hiss at other end of garage. the hose coupling feeding the small blast cabinet had half pulled off and was leaking fortunately no damage to motor but would have only been a matter of time before it cooked because it has no overload protection on it
