Shiremoor go back some years,60s?? of course based in shiremoor then mooved over to seghill front street, next to Comrades club- might be handy to drown your sorrows but I hope its for a toast instead.

Update on the compressor front.
The 7t we were looking for a head for is pretty poorly.
Turned her on after checking the oil and making sure you could turn it by hand first.
She knocked like hell. Took the end cover off anf found a snapped con rod
So took her further apart and found the con rod has damaged the other rod and damaged the crank.

So we picked up another 7t model yesterday, on closer inspection the end cover is cracked and the end of the crank is bent. (the end where the pulley is) If it wasn't for the bent crank she is in very good condition.

So the main shaft of the crank looks like it is held in by a type of woodruft key.
The part where the con rods attach. It its a round dowel i think is the best way to describe it. I know i should have took some photos.
What were hoping to do is swop the ends over or get a friend of ours to straighten the crank.
I'll take some photos to show the problems.

Yep there sure was.
Got the main shaft sorted today from the other compressor.
So now its just a matter of new gaskets bearings and oil.

Just a little update,
Got all the parts, bearings and gaskets from shiremoor. What a really helpful bloke. Would definately recommend to people if they need parts or advice.
The un fortunate thing is its taking a back seat at the moment as we are overhauling our bonser fork lift.
Not a small task i can tell you.
If anyone is interested i can post some photos up in the project section.

Yes, do post up some pics, always interested to see projects like this especially as I now have a T30 of my own which needs attention ! The crank is slightly bent, I may contact Gary at Shiremoor to find out the price of a new one, it may be acceptable compared to straightening the bent one ! The rest of it is so good that it is worth the trouble and expense though.

A little update.
Have started putting it back together but info on these compressors is pretty scarce.
Anyway got the crank in with new bearings and oil seal on the end cover. At the other end where the level plug is there is a valve with a spring on that runs up against the counter balance.
Any ideas on how to set it or how it works?
Its called a unloader valve if thats any help.

Does the valve look something like the one in this pic.

When the pump stops the counter balance weights move in to the centre and put pressure on this valve. The valve then vents the pressure in the main line between the pump and the reservoir everytime it stops, makeing restarting easier.

Yes it is like that. well the needle part with the o ring is. The other part is different. it doesn't have a nut on it to be able to adjust it.
There is just a fitting that screws into the casing that has a spring in it. WHich then has a nipple screwed into that with a t piece.
If that makes sense.

The one i have has the valve connected to the main delivery pipe which vents through the valve into the cranckcase like the pic below.

It could be that yours has been set up to vent via the electrical pressure switch, like most newer compressors. So the spring just keeps the valve from falling out as it isn't really doing anything.

That looks interesting.
Does the spring seat in the nipple attached to the "T" or does it go straight through and sit on the back of the "T".

I'd have thought the pipe work would just connect to the reservoir inlet but to have two fittings look strange. Do you know what they connect to?

Hi, it seems to sit in the nipple. But its taking a back seat again now as all our fork lift parts turned up yesterday so busy rebuilding the motor.
But hopefully some more progress next week to report about this.

A little update.
We got the fork lift finished and also got the compressor back together.
The unloader valve had to many copper washers fitted and when changing the end crank case as the original was cracked, we didnt notice there was a type of seat missing where the unloader valve was fitted.
So re fitted the seat, adjusted it with removal of said washers and it works fine. Or at least it opens and closes when moving the counterweight on the crank and blowing down it.
Its not yet fitted back to the tank as we are re-locating it outside of the building in its own shed to cut down on noise mainly.
So as soon as that is sorted ill drop some progress in.
We may start the shed over the xmas break but as ever we are very busy still catching up from not having the fork lift for nearly four weeks.
Over xmas ill try and get some photos up of the fork lift and the compressor.
