do the powder coating yourself, the kit is £100 and then its cheap for the powder and an old oven, or hostess trolley like i use

I use mainly 6,8, and 10 the frog is 6mm

Another vote for 0.8.
I dont think it makes much difference to the end result. I used 0.6 for years then blagged a reel of 0.8 and made the change. I imagine chopping and changing could be confusing.
My welder? a 180 amp Butters AMT. Lovely machine to use.
