Unknown vintage spanners

I have lots of the original wartime Blue Point spanners (which is actually what Snap On branded their spanners before they called them Snap On in late 50’s and Bluepoint was reduced to a badge applied to bought in cheap tools).
The spanners are identical dimensions to the Snap On spanners sold today, just not quite as well finished. They are certainly miles better than any of Britool etc’s early spanners.

Been going through the box some more, only other interesting things are a nice little king dick

This modified king dick, this had the crows foot stamp

And this huge 7/8w garringtons

These all came in a random box of stuff that came with a britool socket set I bought.
I'd probably putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5, but the crows foot king dick, the Packard Merlin tools, and the garrington (that may be a stretch as I'm only linking it as rolls Royce used the make on their tool kits) make me wonder if whoever owned these tools was at some point an aircraft mechanic.

I have an early Bonney spanner too that is one of my favourites. Very nicely made stuff.

If they are, they’ll be Packard not RR. Have asked my friend/ex boss as he’s the font of all merlin knowledge. What I do know is that if a Packard arrived on squadron in the uk there were fights over who got the tool kit!

So who would have had access to this stuff?
The tools I bought are all good, but mostly British with just a few American tools. One king dick has the crows foot mark.
Makes me wonder if these were owned by an ex raf mechanic and some of his old work acquired tools were still in his box.

I posted some USA spanners over on garage journal and apparantly the blue point in this photo is also from the Packard Merlin tool kit

I may have to go through this box a bit more carefully!
Everything else is English though.

I’ve looked again at that and I think the bluepoint has an AT number on the open end? Possibly why they think it’s a Merlin one?

AT is very def a Packard merlin kit prefix, looks like a good haul. They would have come with new crated engines

It is a Merlin part number. I was linked a picture of the tool roll. Not sure why snap on would have provided a mix of snap on and blue print, but it's the right spanner for the Merlin code.

snap on also did a range of tools called PAR-X not polished like dull chrome got some combination ones in a box somewhere

Bit more digging, I think the HF & co spanner is Harvey frost.

Most of my wartime Bluepoint spanners and Snap On sockets (dated 1942 -44) were purchased second hand by my dad around East Anglia. Apparently it all originated off WW2 bomber bases, the USAF personnel would sell off their Snap On kit.

As an aside, there’s every possibility that it could have come from reme also. I would imagine some merlin kits found their way to tank mechanics to use on the meteor

Here's my Halfords open ends my first spanners about 40 years old , as I said earlier made by gordon tools ( I m lead to believe )
