Vintage power hacksaw

Hi guys..
I have in my possession a vintage power hacksaw. Mine is the same as in the picture below. Rapidor Manchester. It's 240 volt but all complete and working. Just needs a good clean up and a service. I don't know a great deal about them but took it in on a deal with a flypress I brought. How accurate are they for cutting box section/ angle ect..mine comes with a blade but where can I purchase the blades from.

Excellent machines and very capable of accurate cuts, blades can be bought on Ebay or a google will leave you spoilt for choice.

I say vintage as in old quality. I pick it up next week. Can they cut on a 45 degree.

Measure the blades and google the size. A friend of mine had one like that and he never had trouble finding blades.

Normally one bolt on each jaw, slacken off set your position then tighten. Nice and simple.

blades should be 14 inch get the finer teeth ones

Looks a lovely thing that.
As said above measure them up and go for a fine tooth blade.
They'll last ages if you get that suds system working on it.

If the vice jaws rotate it will cut 45° no problem.

This reminded me...there's one similar to the ones above sitting at my old mans.Gate Velox 10 it says on one of the covers on the side of it.
Its been sitting outside..worthwhile trying to get it working?

I too have a Major, I haven't used it much but found when trying to clamp at 45 the metal tends to creep, maybe I'm doing something wrong? They are lovely to watch and I love the way they do it in their own time.

Certainly worth it, unless it's well and truly jiggered. An unappreciated piece of equipment sometimes but they just chug along all day, every day giving accurate cuts.

Today I got my power saw outside my work area. For a good steam clean. Removing all the years of crud . All cleaned and covered in duck oil and ready for me to start the dismantle and repaint.

I have one just like that. Does the handle behind the big wheel work on yours? Mines a bit argumentative about moving and it doesnt seem to make a lot of difference when it does move. Given there's no switch on the machine it adds to the excitement..

Yeah that seems to be the intention.. I've been putting off taking it apart to clean it up.
