ive used 2 bent welding rods and found gas pipes water pipes leccy cables and drain pipe . it works well for most if you know its a soggy patch already dig it up and take a look . did one for a customer . her lawn was rising in a hump in the middle dug it up- and the crappy builders had dumped a load of wood of cuts under the turf and it had all swelled up

With no water usage at your property have you tried sounding the valve in the street serving your supply to see if you can detect noise which could point to a leak on your pipework?

It's quite a big area that gets soggy so I'd like to narrow it down if I can,
While the digger is here It would be handy to have a poke about

It doesn’t for me, I worked with a man that was mustard at it, I tried many times & got nothing.

It's a long way from any water pipes, we've all got springs around here, we have one by the house

Despite my cynicism, water divining works for me - I found this out whilst trying to disprove it...

Blocked drain perhaps? Ive a few of those I need to dig up.

I think your pack of fuzz balls can find any & all mud/water.....seem to be expert at it so far.....

I've used too find 'things' never been asked too find water yet, pipe work and electrical cables yes

I found out by accident that it works for me too. A pair of welding rods. Myself and a colleague spent about a week trying to find a heating system leak in a large council care home. We got bored waiting for the building contractors to dig a couple of holes and had a go for a laugh. Found the leak within a few minutes. It worked for both me and my colleague. Never would have believed it. I still don’t in a way but you’ve got nothing to lose by trying

The surrounding land looks very flat. Is there a general slight slope down towards the boggy area, and is the boggy area a local low point? Does the concrete apron, that borders the patch of ground, drain towards it? Are there any streams, rivers, or dykes nearby?

id be looking at the surrounding aria. if its lower id just run a land drain in . its cheap enough to buy and you have the machine to dig
