Water heater for vintage car

I'm looking for ideas.

The plan is to find some way of making a container of drinkable water heat up by conduction/radiation from the car coolant water system. I have a means of heating food (shown part-finished below) that has been sorted out now, apart from the paint fumes that persist, so I'd like to play around with the Tea/Coffe idea. Silly, I know, but it is a fun car rather than a serious vehicle. Picnics on the beach rather than daily commute.

I was thinking of an alloy water bottle with a car rad filler cap, welded inside an alloy box with water inlet/outlet pipes. Plenty of room on the right side of the block.

My Brother turned a hilux into a campervan. He has a hot water system in it using the engine coolant to heat the water.

the hot water tank was made from a cut down domestic water tank, so it has the curved top and bottons and the middle section with the heat exchanger pipes.

you will need a filler, a pressure relief valve and a take off point to the tap

The hot water feed is plumbed into the engine cooling system and the tank heat exchanger. You'll need a some sort of thermostat/valve system to shut off the hotwater feed when the tank is at temp.

My advice, save all the dicking about and buy a small stove, Coleman unleaded or something.

The dicking about is the whole point for me. Unemployed due to spinal injury so looking for things to keep me going.

This sort of thing with a larger jacket round it? Only needs to be enough for a couple of coffee mugs.

How about a calorifier? Fitted as standard to BT transits to supply hot water to a washbasin. Must be plenty lurking about.

Yes, an very early Minor. 1949.

Finally just about finished but the coil died yesterday. I fitted my last surviving classic Lucas Sports coil and that died, too.

Sounds a bit strange you had 2 coils die in quick secession

yes just clipped around the coil with 2 terry tool type clips, i actually had one of the screw mounted type same as in picture but no clips on an essex v6 and they did make a big difference, points lasted longer as they never ever pitted and using the switch from conventional to electronic you could hear the difference when switching between the 2, the system did deliver better power to the coil

I used to work for a company that made amongst other things flotation dryers mainly for the printing industry.

They had blown air temperatures up to something like 300 Deg c, the American side of the business used to (a long time ago) apparently make them with an optional "pizza oven" - it was a small door in the body that could be opened and food heated up in there. Trust the yanks...

are you sure the coils was 12 volts not the 9 volt ballast types
