Watering Can

Have to be pretty chunky though to be clear. You could use a bit of bright stainless steel, same effect as it's mirrored...

When we did it at school we just held the tap in a clamp stand (science open day thing - illusions, nothing to do with science!).

It was obvious that the water was not going up the clamp stand so the effect was still good with external support.

am I right in thinking there is/was a giant one of those in pleasure beach in blackpool? clear pipe rising up to a big brass tap, the pipe went into the outlet but was blanked off at the top with holes in it so the water flowed out and back down the outside of the pipe

might be right on that i remember that few years ago no idea if it's still there

I haven't been for 3 years but am sure it was there then, was a good illusion, fascinated the kids lol

I'd leave the watering can as-is for simplicity but with maybe one change - make the can a different colour to the "water".

You most certainly are!
I used to love that when I was a kid. It was my highlight when looking at the illuminations. Not seen it for many years now though.
