Not quite sure mate yeah I iv only taught myself. thank you so much! they do look a lot better than when I was weaving back a forth. I do notice they look a lot nicer if you clean them with a wire brush. When I use a wire wheel to clean them up they don’t look as good. I think that’s due to the wire wheel causing the welds to become shiney instead of Matt looking and that shows all the little imperfections. I think that’s what it is haha.

Are you doing overlapping tacks or it it some sort of weaving movement? Those welds should just be one continuous bead.

I agree.
Straight beads on fillets give the best aesthetic IMHO.
Waves, wips, circles etc have their place but usually they are needed in particular (problems) scenario, like building up material, filling gaps, fight gravity, things like that.
At least in my experience.
I mostly try to do exactly what you said, set up the machine and go .

Hi there I am new to mig welding and iv never been taught by anyone just do my own kind of thing haha. Could anyone give me any tips on getting my welding better? Anything I can improve on to get my welds neater?

1. Clean the surface:
Ensure the metal surfaces you're welding are clean. Remove any rust, paint, or oil. A clean surface helps in achieving a strong and neat weld.
2. Make sure you have the right settings:
Voltage and wire speed: Adjust the voltage and wire speed according to the thickness of the material. Refer to the chart usually found inside the welder's door for guidance.
Gas flow: Ensure the gas flow is set correctly. Typically, 20-25 CFH is a good starting point.
3. Use the correct technique
Travel speed: Maintain a consistent travel speed. Moving too fast can result in a weak weld, while moving too slow can cause excessive buildup.
Angle: Hold the gun at a 10-15 degree angle towards the direction of travel.
Stickout: Keep the stickout (the length of the wire extending from the tip) around 1/4 to 3/8 inch.
4. Practice patterns and find the right one for you
Practice different welding patterns like the "C" pattern, zig-zag, or circular motions to find what works best for you.
5. Steady hands and good visibility
Keep your hands steady. Use both hands if necessary to stabilize the gun. Ensure you have good visibility of the weld pool. Use proper lighting and a good quality welding helmet.
6. Power source
Make sure your power source is consistent. Fluctuations can affect the quality of your welds.
8. Check your equipment
Regularly check your equipment for any wear and tear. Replace consumables like contact tips and nozzles as needed.
9. Post-weld cleaning
Clean the welds after you're done. This helps in inspecting the quality and also prepares the surface for any further work.

They are just too late in joining, I sold my Eutectic power max 2 a couple of years ago(maybe a bit more ), they might have been able to help me fix it!! the guy I sold it to on ebay was on here and he got it going,
