That's a refreshing reminder knowing that 'yesteryear' solutions are still acceptable today - I'm going one futher in my desire to save the planet by reusing what I just dug out!
quite right too ,,, tarmac was the way to go on the floors ,,, set almost stuck well , and was water tight . a quick fiver to the guys mending the road and a bucket or two of tar and hot tarmac , jobs a good un ,,,Done a Mini or two with pop rivets, inner & outer sills. It was accepted practice late 60s early 70s. I drew the line at sand & cement in the chassis though.

I remember the fashion for imitation vinyl roofs, done with black stonechip sort of stuff. mind you if you got carried away the weight fair slowed down the 850 ....
