Welding Beginner - Friends & Courses Wanted in Gloucestershire!

I'm in Gloucestershire (Dursley), but I don't do MIG Welding. I did a good Cirencester college 1 day course that covered Arc, MIG, Oxy-Acetylene and Plasma cutting. I was mostly interested in TIG (which wasn't covered) as that's what I've got; I just couldn't find an affordable local TIG course and figured that the practice in other weld types might be useful.

Bristol college do a MIG evening course & Gloucester do a pick-your-process course, but the Gloucester one is eye-wateringly expensive. I can't comment on either.

good luck with your new work shop mate im new as well but im just doing it as a hobby ive looked at tuturials on here and youtube how to mig weld will be practice practice practice for me mate

Cheer’s. I’m still always checking n YouTube. It really is a case of practise. Just finding your own grove.
I’m only starting with the bare min for what I need to do. it’s definitely a case of accumulating more tool’s etc as & when you learn that you actually need specific thing’s.
it will all be new to Myself also.

true mate I've bought a 2nd hand ESAB MIG welder and I also purchased a cold saw for cutting square box section as the 1st thing I'm going to have a go at is a welding table mate I was chatting to a welding fabricating shop in Sheffield as that where I was born and the guy will sell me some box tubing and he said will cut it to size for me I'm sure it was 37.00 for a 6mtr length which I think is ok as I've looked online and it's more expensive

Absolutely. Will not only be cheaper.
You get hands on experience.
Plus that satisfaction you actually fabricated it Yourself.
Nothing like the buzz you get when you have a complete finished product right there.

I may throw that into the mix of list of migs im looking into.
I currently work with a big ole 400+ 3phase migatron at work.

Did you find that oxy-acetylene welding a similar process to tig welding with having to add filler material manually.

Similar in that way specifically and that you have to be very focused on heat control, but different in almost every other way. It felt much harder to control as you can't just let up on the pedal if you want to reduce the heat.

To be honest, I probably needed a lot more practice than I got in one small part of a day course, so I'm not the best person to comment.

It's thought through in some ways, but it's mostly grown organically as I've tried to stuff more and more things (both those I bought & those I made) into it. I've spent a lot of time reorganising and then reorganising again.
