if u get a flashback u can just reset them. a non resettable one u just bin and buy another thats why its called non resettable more cash spent . u might be lucky and never get one .ive had 1 in 36 years

A quick question, how do I know that I've had a flashback? And when the non-resettable arrestors go off, do they stop flowing all together? Or do you have to notice the flashback and replace them?

Anyhow, biggest reason for using resettable arrestors in a professional environment is that a lot of the pro welders are so business-minded that if the shop is out of new arrestors most of them will weld without them, so with the resettable ones that chance disappears.

Non-resettable ones permanently block, or should, when triggered...
There's a pin and spring arrangement built inside, although, some cheaper ones have been made which don't function at all

There was a post on here some time ago when a set of cylinders in a van exploded on site when the arrestors didn't function correctly and caused catastrophic damage...

The resettable ones usually shift, that is, part of them moves to indicate they've triggered and so you can reset them...

You should never work without them, any good welder will know that, then again cowboys are the ones that don't care...

The safety is more important

I will have a look maybe tonight, to see how the O-ring are. Where could I find some for replacement? Any hardware store will do or I need special stuff from a welding shop?



I will use the proper leak detection, and I will go for resettable flashback arrrestors as Mike suggest too.

The safety is more important than a couple of quid.

Yes,the safety is more important,so the parts of big risks should be replaced.

Use proper O-rings designed for welding equipment. "Mystery material" may fail with bad results, and torch and regulator seals aren't usually expensive.
