Welding Fixture Bench

If braces were needed, they could be fitted a couple of inches below the table underside with only the bolts coming up to the table top between the mounting holes, But as you say not tacking to bench and heavy work onto another table.

I was thinking of some 40x10 flat bar thin edge vertical between hole centres if it ever proves needed. I really want the clear access to the underside though

Kent, Are you going to be buying a shed load of those lovely Stronghand clamps etc that fit into the 16mm holes?

Gordon, could you mind posting a link or picture of the clamps as I am also thinking of a build like this although Im not entirely sure what kind of clamping system to use yet! Thanks

F.J. i think they are all shown on the Stronghandtools.com web site, They also have a great range of normal type clamps. Very good flexible system of all sorts of brackets and clamps. they fit through the 16mm holes in the table and clamp in from above, I think CWS in wales are the main importer, Jody collier on his Welding tips and tricks uses them a lot, Check out his website if you haven't already, Very good site,

Thanks Gordon, I watch Jodie's videos all the time. He has taught me loads over the last year since I found him on YouTube so I'll have a look on his site along with the others you mentioned.

SWP are the importer along with Clwyd welding. I am struggling to get more than we will send you some info that has never arrived incidentally or we will get our rep to call you. I think its going to be quicker getting then sent from the States, failing that I will get some toggle clamps, ground angles in and machine my own raising blocks (actually I think the latter will be better done out of square stock anyway and is likely only done in round to save time).
If you search Build pro on u-tube there is lots of stuff on fixtures and links to the main build pro site.
Come and have a look at mine if you want you can help turn the thing over and fit the plate

All in place castors fitted levelled up on the feet, coat of red oxide and my bar rollers in place for a little job. next job is building in some tool boxes also got the right countersink bit to fit those machine screws below flush. Got it turned and fitted the plate single handed (bit of thought bit of brawn)

nope,
small bottle jack, few concrete blocks and skids to move the plate onto the bench. The main frame I actually rolled off and over on my own, I haven't calculated the weight of the frame but It was impossible to actually pick up and I recon a 3 man lift min if they were all well up to it. Heck I figured they moved Stonehenge

just lowered the legs on the bench and walked/slid the plate on top then adjusted for level

What do you mean by Decent sheet metal kit??

I mean a guillotine and box pan folder or press break. We are currently speaking about building a big enough workshop to take them (well setting aside the land at least). I will do something as regards storage sooner it just wont be so elaborate as if I had the kit here. Got something in the fag packet stage of drawing presently

Its darn hard getting build pro clamps and fixtures from either of the two authorised agents. Still after half a dozen calls I still aint got even prices. Any how started to improvise a bit
